The program supports countries’ effort to improve the management of their shared coastal resources and reduce the natural and man-made risks affecting coastal communities. WACA boosts the transfer of knowledge, foster political dialogue among countries, and mobilize public and private finance to tackle coastal erosion, flooding, pollution and climate change adaptation. The WACA Program consists of country projects, regional integration and support activities, and a WACA Platform as mechanism to scale-up knowledge, dialogue and finance.                         SDG explicitly mentioned                   Reduce coastal erosion hotspots by 30% by 2020 and 70% by 2025. It will involve all stakeholders in the water sector, national and local governance leaders, civil society representatives, researchers, urban planners, decision makers, utility operators and service providers, providing a forum in which they can learn from each other’s experience, exchange best practices, collaborate with technical, academic and financial institutions, and design and implement individual responses to the challenges of climate change and urban growth.           SDG explicitly mentioned         SDG explicitly mentioned   SDG explicitly mentioned                             ["Argentina", "United States of America (the)", "Viet Nam", "Turkey", "Congo (the Democratic Republic of the)", "Nigeria", "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (the)", "United States of America (the)", "Philippines (the)", "Mexico", "India", "United States of America (the)", "France", "Korea (the Republic of)", "Japan"]   [""] [UNESCO-IHP]_ior_int,[ICLEI]_sgv_deu,[SIAAP]_bus_fra,[ACREAU-IdF]_ing_fra {"sgv": ["Beijing ", "Buenos Aires", "Chicago", "Ho Chi Minh ", "Istanbul", "Kinshasa", "Lagos", "London", "Los Angeles", "Manila ", "Mexico City ", "Mumbai", "New York ", "Paris", "Seoul ", "Tokyo"]}

At the core of the initiative is the 1 in 100 year solvency “stress test”, a similar concept to that developed in recent years by the insurance sector to assess its own ability to manage risk. The test evaluates the maximum probable annual financial loss that an organization, city, or region, could expect once in a hundred years, in order to enable them to manage their risk in a more informed and effective way.                                                   Coordinate at least $100 million annual investment into public science research by the global insurance industry from 2016 onwards.   ["None"]   ["PricewaterhouseCoopers"] [Willis Towers Watson]_bus_gbr {"ing": ["Future Earth"], "bus": ["ICMIF", "Prince's Accounting for Sustainability Project", "Standard & Poor's Rating Services", "International Insurance Society", "Carbon Disclosure Project", "PricewaterhouseCoopers", "Willis Towers Watson"], "ior": ["UNIDSR"]}

Since its launch, more than 75 members have joined the Partnership. The Partnership aims to strengthen the resilience of developing countries and protect the lives and livelihoods of poor and vulnerable people against the impacts of disasters. The central objective of the Partnership is to enable more timely and reliable post-disaster response and to better prepare for climate and disaster risk through the use of climate and disaster risk finance and insurance solutions, reducing humanitarian impacts, helping poor and vulnerable people recover more quickly, increasing local adaptive capacity and strengthening local resilience. This complements ongoing efforts in countries to avert, minimize and address climate and disaster risks. 77 ccid_0092 African Women in Agricultural Research and Development - One Planet Fellowship mainly adaptation land use     https://awardfellowships.org/the-one-planet-fellowship/ 2019 Experts agree that the African continent is particularly vulnerable to climate change and hundreds of millions of lives are at risk of hunger and starvation if Africa is unable to feed its growing population. Research and innovation in the agricultural sector can help Africa feed a growing population in the context of a changing climate but only if investments are made now to build a pipeline of the next generation of research scientists. That is why African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) and Agropolis Fondation supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), France’s BNP Paribas Foundation, the European Union, Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC) have partnered to implement the One Planet Fellowship. The One Planet Fellowship seeks to build a vibrant, highly connected, and intergenerational network of African and European scientist leaders equipped to lead next-generation research focused on helping Africa’s smallholder farmers adapt to a changing climate. One Planet Fellowship is a $20 million initiative dedicated to supporting research on climate change adaptation. Announced at the One Planet Summit in 2017, The One Planet Fellowship is a career-accelerator designed to enhance the capacity of high potential agricultural researchers focused on climate change adaptation, by building their leadership, scientific research, networking, and mentoring skills.                         SDG explicitly mentioned               Targets more than 600 agricultural scientists (predominantly in Africa)       $20 million     ["Benin", "Burkina Faso", "Ethiopia", "None", "Kenya", "Mali", "Malawi", "Nigeria", "Senegal", "Tanzania, United Republic of", "None", "Zambia"]   ["Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation", "BNP Paribas Foundation", "European Union", "IDRC"] [African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD)]_ing_ken,[Agropolis fondation]_edu_fra Ambiguous

It focuses on consolidating available forecasting information and putting plans in place to make sure FAO acts when a warning is at hand. The EWEA plans are tailored to each country and are based on existing early warning systems to identify timely triggers for early actions. Early actions are identified for a definite time frame between an early warning trigger and the actual occurrence of a disaster: they differ from ‘early response’ as they occur before the disaster has happened and therefore sufficiently early to offset part or all of its impact. Examples can include interventions to protect assets and livelihoods against the impending shock (such as rebuilding riverbanks or repairing irrigation schemes) as well as prepositioning to ensure timely humanitarian assistance to those most in need (such as the preposition seeds or tools). The collaborative effort is conducting a systematic analysis of the various understandings and components of a just transition and fostering a community of stakeholders and scholars engaging in this space. To support these objectives, the initiative has developed public platform of resources and guidance for a just transition in the context of climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts.Through a series of country case studies, CIF is exploring and guiding how just transitions can be achieved alongside the transformational change necessary to address climate change in diverse contexts. The case studies explore key elements of just transitions and share lessons on how CIF investments in specific countries have contributed to, or interacted with, efforts to ensure just transitions. The underlying assumption is that experiences from previous investments will provide insights that can be used to enhance the contributions of future policy support, investment planning, financing, and implementation of just transitions. To advocate its further implementation and provide proof‐of‐concept for the replication and up‐scaling of NBS, the EU's Horizon 2020 (H2020) Work Programme is supporting four research and innovation action projects that design, implement and evaluate innovative and locally attuned NBSs for hydro‐ meteorological risk reduction at the watershed and landscape scale. Specific examples are being implemented that range from urban to rural and from mountain to coastal areas, counting more than 30 demonstration sites in Europe and 10 sites outside Europe including North America, South America, Asia and Australia. This work will facilitate more effective protection of exposed population and environment from hydro‐ meteorological perils such as landslides, floods, droughts, and erosion. This Task Force on NBS for Hydro‐meteorological Risk Reduction represents four H2020 projects with partnerships between researchers, industry and public agencies. OPERANDUM, RECONECT and PHUSICOS address the use of NBS to reduce hydro‐meteorological risks through co‐designed, co‐developed, and demonstrated NBSs. 281 ccid_0363 MAR Fund mainly adaptation oceans and coastal zones     https://marfund.org/en/ 2004 In early 2004, recognizing the need for a regional funding and coordination institution, representatives from conservation funds in each country of the MAR region (Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico) initiated the Mesoamerican Reef Fund (MAR Fund). MAR Fund is a private fund with a Board of Directors comprised of international collaborators, experts, the Central American Commission on Environment and Development (CCAD), and the in-country funds from each of the Mesoamerican Reef countries – Protected Areas Conservation Trust (Belize), Fundación para la Conservación de los Recursos Naturales y Ambiente en Guatemala (FCG), Fundación Biósfera (Honduras), and Fondo Mexicano para la Conservación de la Naturaleza (Mexico). The mission of the MAR Fund is to drive regional funding and partnerships for the conservation, restoration, and sustainable use of the Mesoamerican Reef. To do so, the MAR Fund operates as an ecoregional planning and coordinating body which prioritizes projects and allocates funding. The Mesoamerican Reef Fund aspires to be known and respected as a trustworthy and transparent fundraising mechanism able to sustain and finance effective transnational alliances, policies, and practices that conserve the Mesoamerican Reef and advance the health and well-being of the region’s people.                         SDG explicitly mentioned                             ["Belize", "Guatemala", "Honduras", "Mexico"]   ["AVINA Foundation", "French Development Agency", "Global Giving Foundation", "German Cooperation through KfW", "National Fish and Wildlife Foundation", "NOAA Southeast Fisheries Science Center", "Oak Foundation", "Paul M Angell Family Foundation", "The Fondation de l Orangerie for Individual Philanthropy", "The Overbrook Foundation", "The Summit Foundation", "COBI", "Conservation International", "Dim Sum Tea House", "ECOSUR", "JRS Biodiversity Foundation", "Niparaja A C", "The David and Lucile Packard Foundation", "Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Medio Ambiente (PNUMA)", "The Curtis and Edith Munson Foundation", "The Ocean Foundation", "The Nature Conservancy", "University of Miami RSMAS", "WWF Centroamerica", "Marisla (Global Greengrants)"] [Fondo Mexicano para la Conservacion de la Naturaleza AC (FMCN)]_dng_mex,[Protected Areas Conservation (PACT)]_dng_blz,[Fundacion para la Conservacion de los Recursos Naturales y de Ambiente en Guatemala (FCG)]_dng_gtm,[Fundacion Biosfera (FB)]_dng_hnd {"dng": ["BICA Roatan", "BICA Utila", "Comunidad y Biodiversidad", "Fundaeco", "Oceanus AC", "Roatan Marine Park", "Sarteneja Alliance for Conservation and Development", "Toledo Institute for Development and Environment"], "ngv": ["CONAP", "Secretaria de Medio Ambiente Mexico"], "edu": ["Eco Index", "Gulf and Caribbean Fisheries Institute (GCFI)", "Mapping the World s Biodiversity"], "ing": ["Environmental Defense Fund", "Environmental Funds Tool Kit", "Global Partnership For Oceans", "Healthy Reefs Initiative", "Latin American and Caribbean Network", "MAR Leadership", "Oceana"]}
