We need global action that will substantially contribute to the Paris Agreement climate targets, to stay well below 1.5 degrees Celsius. The Urban-LEDS II project helps local governments to implement integrated low emission and resilient development by offering guidance, tools, and technical assistance; mobilizing cities to commit to the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM); exploring access to financing; and supporting multilevel governance. The project will also support the improvement of effective monitoring and reporting systems through an integrated MRV (Measuring, Reporting, and Verifying) process, vital to tracking progress and accelerating climate action within cities. Local governments’ planning and implementation of climate action will not only lead to regional benefits, but will also support national climate action plans that effectively contribute to global climate change mitigation and adaptation, and also provide access to secure, affordable, and sustainable energy.     SDG explicitly mentioned       SDG explicitly mentioned   SDG explicitly mentioned   SDG explicitly mentioned   SDG explicitly mentioned                             ["Portugal", "Italy", "Germany", "Poland", "Slovakia", "Latvia", "Romania", "Spain", "Denmark", "Hungary", "Ireland", "India", "Bangladesh", "Rwanda", "South Africa", "Brazil", "Colombia", "Kosovo"]   ["European Commission (EC)"] [United Nations Habitat]_ior_int,[ICLEI]_sgv_int {"sgv": ["Almada", "Bologna", "Helsinki", "Hannover", "Warsaw", "Bratislava", "Riga", "Alba lulia", "Madrid", "Aalborg", "Budapest", "Cork", "Larissa", "Narayanganj", "Rajshahi", "Singra", "Sirajgan", "Faridpur", "Mongla", "Belo Horizonte", "Betim", "Curitiba", "Porto Alegre", "Rio de Janeiro", "Sorocaba", "Cartago", "Ibague", "Manizales", "Santiago de Cali", "The Metropolitan Area of the Aburr\u00e1 Valley", "T\u00f3paga", "Valledupar", "Nagpur", "Rajkot", "Thane", "Coimbatore", "Gwalior", "Panaji", "Pimpri-Chinchwad", "Shimla", "Balikpapan", "Bogor", "Bontang", "Kabupaten Bogor", "Tanggerang Selatan (South Tangerang)", "Tarakan", "Pakse", "Kaysone Phomvihane", "Outhoumphone", "Songkhone", "Sanasomboun", "Bachiangchaleunsouk", "Huye", "Kigali", "Muhanga", "Nyagatare", "District of Musanze", "Rubavu", "Rusizi", "KwaDukuza", "Steve Tshwete", "Mogale City", "Nelson Mandela Bay", "Overberg District Municipality", "Saldanha Bay", "Sol Plaatje", "uMhlathuze"]}

Atmospheric observations show that the volume of HFCs in the atmosphere is increasing rapidly, about 10-15% per year. Significant growth in HFC use is expected in developing countries because of population growth, rapid urbanization, electrification and changing consumer patterns. The increased use of refrigerants will also result in increased energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. If no measures are taken, it is estimated that HFCs will amount to 9-19% of total CO2 emissions by 2050. The HFC Initiative has brought together governments, the private sector, and intergovernmental organizations to disseminate information on and strategies for developing, deploying, and promoting climate-friendly technologies. Capacity building activities, including technology conferences and exhibitions, interactive partner tools, and case studies, have increased knowledge of more sustainable technologies that are available in a number of sectors, including refrigeration and air conditioning, as well as provided information on policies that promote development and deployment of these alternatives.                         SDG explicitly mentioned         [By 2025: efforts to reduce global emissions from refrigerant servicing by 30-50%] [Total mitigation goal by 2030: 3800 MtCO2e/yr] from CIP website               [The initial goal was to adopt an ambitious amendment to the Montreal Protocol to phasedown HFCs.
