33 33 33 December, 2010 Creation of the Global Adaptation Network Kenya, Nairobi The Global Adaptation Network (GAN) provides a worldwide platform to distribute and exchange knowledge on climate change adaptation. The Network laid emphasis on the value of direct personal exchange and partnerships, often within particular regions of vulnerability. The UN Environment in Nairobi hosts the secretariat of GAN. This anchoring within the UN system allows GAN to have a global reach, drawing on partnerships in the interests of building resilience. As an umbrella organization spanning most continents, GAN is composed of many constituent regional networks and partners, each of which provides knowledge services in their respective regions. This GAN is a thriving community that provides benefits to its members and connects the global with the local. The Global Adaptation Network works on a range of adaptation projects, connecting each one into a more comprehensive worldwide platform.
